Pivotal and Microsoft to deliver hosted demand chain solution for the leading supplier of independent music
— Pivotal Corporation (Nasdaq: PVTL) today announced that The Orchard has selected Pivotal eRelationship 2000 as its comprehensive Microsoft-based Internet solution for managing online relationships with customers and business partners. This solution will be delivered to The Orchard users through PivotalHost, Pivotal's ASP hosting service.
The Orchard is the largest worldwide distributor of independent music to consumer online stores. The Orchard's global distribution network supplies consumer online stores, traditional retail stores, digital download sites, streaming media and soon - wireless applications worldwide. Pivotal's eBusiness solution will enable The Orchard to integrate all front-end and back-end systems including accounting and inventory management to create a unified Internet infrastructure that allows for streamlined communications and redefined business process management.
"Pivotal's hosted solution on the Microsoft platform is a powerful combination that is rapidly deployed, cost-effective and easy to manage," said Scott Cohen, president, The Orchard. "Using this solution, The Orchard can significantly enhance internal operations, while focusing on the online needs of our independent artists. Artists signed with The Orchard will also be able to access their accounts for real-time inventory and revenue status - which is crucial for up and coming independent artists."
According to Dwight Krossa, marketing director at Microsoft, "Pivotal's eBUSINESS solution is an ideal solution to be deployed in a hosted environment, taking advantage of the Microsoft Windows DNA platform. Companies such as The Orchard have compelling reasons to create their entire eBUSINESS infrastructure for the demand chain in a hosted environment. Pivotal's hosted solution enables companies to concentrate on their core business while using Pivotal's sophisticated, intelligent solution without the requirements to manage this solution internally."
According to Norm Francis, president and CEO, Pivotal, "PivotalHost, Pivotal's program for best-in-breed ASPs delivering hosted Pivotal solutions, is an excellent alternative for companies with limited IT resources that require demand chain solutions for the digital economy. The Orchard is a great example of a company that is using the Pivotal and Microsoft combination to leverage a hosted solution not only as the eBUSINESS infrastructure, but also as the backbone to their own business operations."
