China.com Corporation Announces Expansion of Japanese Operations

Web Connection celebrates Japanese office launch

Hong Kong, December 3, 1999 — China.com Corporation today announced the launch of the Japanese office of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Web Connection.

This presence in Japan - a market expecting to see over 300 billion Yen in online sales this year - brings to 10 the number of Asia-Pacific markets covered by China.com Corporation.

Commenting at the launch event to mark the Japan office opening, Peter Yip, Chief Executive Officer of China.com Corporation said, "Japan is currently the leading Internet nation in Asia and as Asia's leading integrated Internet company we must have a significant presence in this strategically important market. This announcement also serves to reinforce our increasingly strong presence across the Asia-Pacific region, which gives us an unrivalled opportunity to serve both local and multinational clients in Japan.

"We see great opportunities for building a significant business as we believe that Japan has a natural cultural and business fit with the Internet. For example, there is an existing strong catalog shopping culture as well as an advanced banking infrastructure. We already have well-established ties in Japan through our existing relationship with Mitsui & Co. Ltd., who are one of our major shareholders and we look forward to strong business growth in Japan in the coming year, both through organic growth and through establishing further strategic alliances," added Mr Yip.

Since its formation in early 1999 the Web Connection Japan has already established an impressive track record. Current projects underway include e-business solutions strategy work for sports shoe brand New Balance Japan, The Oxford University Press and international children's book publishers, Shikosha.

"In a very short period of time, the Web Connection has established itself in Tokyo as a

leading player, and certainly one of the most knowledgeable, in online business," commented Michael Glenn, International Creative Director for Hakuhodo Inc..

"The Web Connection Japan is definitely focused on the right aspects of e-business. I am impressed with their understanding of how web development is integrated with a company's overall business strategy. They have amazing regional capabilities. I think that is one of their great strengths," added Christopher J. Phelan, COO of Global Online Japan.

The Web Connection launch follows on the heels of the office launch of China.com Corporation's online advertising subsidiary 24/7 Media Asia in November.

Commenting on the addition of the Web Connection business to the existing presence in Japan of 24/7 Media Asia, Mr. Yip said, "The fact that we have established both e-business solutions' and advertising businesses in Japan is a further demonstration of the continued implementation of our unique 'Build, Distribute, Sell' Internet business model across the region".
