Floralife Selects Ross Systems' iRenaissance Suite to Stay a Cut Above the Rest
ATLANTA,
January 26, 2004—Ross Systems (NASDAQ: ROSS), a global provider of enterprise software solutions for manufacturers, today announced that Floralife® Inc., the top producer of post harvest care products for the floral industry, has licensed iRenaissance for its enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) applications. Floralife will standardize operations across the United States and Canada on the Ross platform, to streamline regulatory compliance and access to inventory data, and improve labor-reporting and customer information management.
Since 1938, Floralife has provided a complete line of products designed to maximize customer satisfaction of fresh cut flowers. The company manufactures the small packets that consumers receive with the purchase of roses or fresh cut bouquets. Floralife was the first to market water-specific flower nutrients, and to develop a flower food that remains clear in all waters. Given the chemical composition of Floralife's product lines which include flower food, floral foam and EthylBloc®, an EPA approved ethylene action inhibitor, manufacturing processes must adhere to the specific guidelines and regulations set forth by the government to ensure safety and quality.
"After reviewing several vendors, it was clear that Ross' stability, technology and depth of industry-specific experience put it ahead of the rest," said Aimee Soyka, vice president of information technology for Floralife. "With out of the box functionality and fit, the Ross system best suits our need to replace legacy applications with a Web services based solution. By providing increased regulatory compliance capabilities and greater visibility into our manufacturing processes and customer lifecycles, we expect iRenaissance ERP and CRM to drive operational efficiencies and cost savings."
Like chemical manufacturers across industries, Floralife must adhere to strict lot control and reporting regulations. For example, the company is required to provide its customers with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) at precise intervals during the customer lifecycle which provide emergency instructions and information in the event of ingestion or spillage. Designed to meet the compliance issues facing chemical manufacturers, Ross' iRenaissance functions as the system of record supporting the information requirements for MSDS sheets or other documentation and controls.
iRenaissance ERP will give Floralife the tools to make more informed manufacturing decisions, ensure quality and measure labor resources while containing costs and improving delivery performance. iRenaissance CRM will provide Floralife with a central information store to help grow the business by empowering the company to get closer to its customers – to better understand their needs and effectively communicate with them on a timely basis. Completely browser-based, Ross' Internet Application Framework will enable Floralife to connect between iRenaissance and other enterprise systems, devices, people and processes. Floralife expects to implement both components of the Ross system within the year.
"Ross continues to meet the complex needs of chemical manufacturers, like Floralife, as they face cost containment pressures, demanding customer relationships and regulatory concerns," said J. Patrick Tinley, CEO of Ross Systems. "Our commitment to our customers keeps us at the forefront of innovation, consistently staying one step ahead of their business, manufacturing and regulatory needs."
