Pre-Sales Engineer

This pre-sales professional is responsible for supporting the sales team and generating revenue within his/her assigned practice by providing presales engineering support to the sales team in their effort to sell shipping and trade and logistics software solutions and services primarily via face-to-face contact.

Responsibilities include:

  • Works with sales to develop contacts and visits prospective customers to determine needs
  • Creates and performs software demonstration and sales presentations to match company's products/services with identified needs
  • Remains knowledgeable of company's other products/services to facilitate sales efforts
  • Gathers requirements and prepares estimates for inclusion in statements of work and proposals
  • Works with 3rd parties to improve and enhance product offerings
  • Maintains a regular schedule of contact with customers and prospective customers via phone and on-site visits in conjunction with the sales executive
  • Updates customers on new or improved products and services
  • Works closely with sales and Professional Services, and Marketing to close deals, prepare white papers, present at trade shows and provide webinars
  • Determines ways to differentiate CDC Global Services-Catalyst and CDCGS-Catalyst products from the competitors

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years software experience, preferably in a customer facing position (pre-sales engineer, lead engineer)
  • Experience selling or deploying supply chain management, global shipping and trade and logistics solutions
  • Experience with SAP Logistics Execution Systems (SD, WM and/or TP/VS)
  • Experience with some Transportation Management Software preferred
  • An excellent track record of selling software solutions to large accounts
  • Proven ability to understand the customers' strategic objectives and needs and match those needs with a solution
  • Technical Experience in design, requirements gathering, development and deployment of supply chain solutions preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels both within and outside of organization
  • Self motivated with the ability to keep motivated even during long or tough sales cycle
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with a wide latitude for independent judgment
  • Excellent understanding of business issues and goals
  • Bachelors' Degree preferred
  • 50% travel required.
