Hong Kong, October 29, 2002 — CDC Software Corporation ("CDC Software"), a wholly owned subsidiary and software unit of chinadotcom corporation [NASDAQ: CHINA; Website: www.corp.china.com], today announced a strategic technology and distribution alliance with Hotel Information Systems Ltd. ("HIS"), a global leader of hotel management information software applications with a strong presence throughout Greater China.
HIS has bundled CDC Software's PowerBooks software application to provide financial management back office for Greater China. HIS' epitome Property Management System, which meets the front office needs of hotel properties in Greater China, will be integrated with PowerBooks to provide hotels with a comprehensive hotel management and financial accounting system. PowerBooks brings additional functionalities along with dual language capabilities supporting both simplified and traditional Chinese concurrently with English.
Mr. Gareth Fong, General Manager of HIS in Hong Kong indicated, "Using PowerBooks will simplify the process of operating the system in Chinese while reports can be produced in either language for corporate reporting, consolidation and ad hoc decision making." PowerBooks meets most of the material statutory requirements in China including PRC Monthly Statutory Reports and VAT/service taxes which are in place specifically for the hotel industry in China.

As part of the agreement, PowerBooks is being integrated with HIS to allow daily transactions to flow in an automated manner from the HIS front office system to the PowerBooks back office functions. HIS will target the PowerBooks system to both existing and prospective four and five star hotel properties. HIS currently has over 90 hotel customers located throughout Greater China.
