Norm Francis, co-founder and former CEO, continues as chairman of the board
— Pivotal Corporation (Nasdaq NM: PVTL; TSE: PVT) today announced the appointment of Bo Manning as president and CEO. Manning is a twenty-year veteran of the technology industry, CRM thought-leader, and former leader of Deloitte Consulting’s $500 million CRM practice. Norm Francis, Pivotal’s co-founder and former president and CEO, will continue as chairman of the board and play an active strategic role.
This appointment closely follows other recent milestones including the company’s entry into the $2.4 billion Oracle market; strategic partnerships with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Microsoft and Alcatel; and the release of the next-generation Pivotal demand chain management suite.
“Manning’s appointment represents the beginning of an exciting, aggressive new era for Pivotal,” said Norm Francis, Pivotal chairman (former president and CEO). “Manning’s appointment underscores Pivotal’s unwavering commitment to make smart, strategic moves to grow the company, and set the stage for long-term success. Manning brings deep industry experience, strategic insight, and the energy and commitment to drive our company to the next stage of growth and profitability.”
Manning is a recognized leader in the CRM industry. He built and led Deloitte Consulting’s market-leading CRM practice; consulted directly with Fortune 1000 customers such as Charles Schwab, United Airlines, Pitney Bowes, Motorola and Sears; and built successful alliances with leading software companies including Siebel, E.piphany, Broadvision, Vantive and Trilogy. Most recently, Manning was CEO of Roundarch – an innovative CRM solutions company formed by Deloitte Consulting, Broadvision and WPP Group (the holding company of Ogilvy & Mather, J. Walter Thompson and Young & Rubicam).
According to Manning, “Pivotal has all of the key building blocks in place to be a dominant force in the emerging demand chain management market. The company has incredible people, innovative technology, powerful partnerships with world-leading companies, and the drive and determination to outperform the competition.”
As Pivotal’s new leader, Manning will assume responsibility for the strategic direction of the company, and oversee all aspects of Pivotal’s operations including technology development, sales and marketing, and finance and administration.
Norm Francis, who co-founded Pivotal in 1994, will continue to play an instrumental role in the company as chairman of the board and as a strategic advisor to Manning. During his tenure as Pivotal’s chief executive, Francis was an early evangelist and influencer in the CRM industry – and played a significant role in the global explosion of the ‘Customer Economy’.
According to Manning, “Francis and the Pivotal management team have built a powerful company with a large market opportunity. As Pivotal’s new leader, I will drive profitability, relentlessly innovate our technology, expand our partner network, and stop at nothing to ensure the success of our customers.”
Bo Manning begins his new role immediately, and is based at Pivotal’s worldwide headquarters in Vancouver.
