Pivotal Anywhere available now for Blackberry Wireless Handhelds
— Pivotal Corporation (NASDAQ: PVTL), a leading provider of business-to-business solutions for eBusiness relationship management (eBRM), today announced the Pivotal Anywhere™ solution for wireless access to Pivotal eBRM solutions. The Pivotal Anywhere wireless eBRM solution, which operates in conjunction with the BlackBerry™ wireless email solution from Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ: RIMM), is available now from DataLan Corporation - a certified Pivotal Alliance Partner. The Pivotal Anywhere wireless eBRM solution meets the dramatically increasing demand among business users for live access to corporate and Internet information while disconnected from the corporate network.
"With the Pivotal Anywhere wireless eBRM solution, disconnected users always have live access to vital business information such as contacts, sales opportunities and customer profiles. Wireless access to this data makes business processes seamless and enables companies to provide optimal customer service," said Norm Francis, president and CEO of Pivotal Corporation. "This solution enables business users to access and update corporate data-in real-time-so that they can continue to be up-to-speed and in contact even when they are away from the conveniences of the office."
The escalating demand for wireless business solutions is noted in recent reports from the Yankee Group which indicate that the number of North American mobile data subscribers will triple between 1999 and 2002. This will mean an increase in North American subscribers from 3.38 million to 10.64 million in only three years. A recent report in the Financial Times (U.K.) indicated that significant demand for wireless technology is also apparent outside of North America. The penetration rate for wireless phones in Europe is expected to reach 56 percent by the end of 2000.
In response to this trend, Pivotal has joined forces with DataLan Corporation and Research In Motion (RIM) to enable wireless users to be notified of mission-critical business activities, access corporate information and make changes to corporate data.
According to David Werezak, VP Marketing of Research In Motion, "By using RIM's BlackBerry wireless email solution together with Pivotal's eBusiness relationship management solutions, mobile users can stay on top of their constantly evolving business relationships and make crucial decisions based on the most current customer data. This combination of wireless and eBRM technology offers unique value to business users who want to exploit the full potential of their business information systems."
DataLan Corporation of White Plains, NY, a member of the Pivotal Certified Alliance, has developed a solution that integrates with the BlackBerry and allows users to read and write data to the Pivotal eRelationship 2 eBRM solution. The integrated solution supports real-time updates of corporate data, enabling wireless users to respond immediately to customer demands and business opportunities. The DataLan solution is designed to allow users to easily and quickly access information through an interface that features icons and pull-down menus. Users can select information and post a query to the Pivotal eRelationship database. When requested information is retrieved from the database, the response is sent to the Blackberry Wireless Handheld in email form.
According to John Arnold, DataLan president and founder, "Wireless technology changes the way people conduct business and manage their business relationships. The integration of eBRM technology and wireless technology is a significant step in the evolution of wireless business and will deliver disconnected users the kinds of information and services they are demanding in order to be highly productive away from the office."
