Vignette and the Web connection form strategic alliance in Asia

The Web Connection offers Internet solutions using Vignette StoryServer for workflow and content management

Hong Kong, October 7, 1999 — Vignette Corporation (NASDAQ: VIGN), the leader in building E-Relationships, and the Web Connection, a top e-business solutions provider in Asia, today announced a strategic alliance to help companies support content management for their Web-based businesses. Together, these Internet market leaders will address the broad-ranging and complex requirements of Asian companies seeking to expand their business through the Internet.

By combining Vignette's award-winning StoryServer? technology platform with the Web Connection's proven excellence in providing Internet consulting and implementation services, both companies hope to meet the business goals of customers by providing winning solutions in the digital economy. The companies plan to offer full solutions for traditional brick-and-mortar firms and "dot com" companies that are building a Web presence in industries including financial services, travel and tourism, communications, retail, media and entertainment, and government.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Web Connection will license and market Vignette StoryServer and Vignette Syndication Server? software, and provide systems integration and consulting services in support of Vignette implementations for Web Connection clients in Asia. Currently, the Web Connection has offices in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan.

The Web Connection will maintain a core set of consultants trained and experienced in Vignette products and technologies. The partnership will allow Vignette and the Web Connection to build the right solutions for customers, bringing concepts to effective operational e-business solutions.

"Having successfully established ourselves as a leading e-business integrator in the region, we look for partners that are clear market leaders in their own right. We find that Vignette's products are highly suited to the complex Web environments we are developing for our customers, providing them a flexible system to manage workflow and online content with a reasonably short deployment time," said Steve McKay, president and chief operating officer at the Web Connection.

"With the rapid expansion of Internet businesses in Asia, time to market is key to the success of our customers," said Allan Bagley, Asia Pacific director of Vignette. "Our partnership with the Web Connection will provide our customers in Asia with the integration expertise they need to quickly build and launch successful Internet businesses."
