China.com Corporation's Web Connection Appoints Financial Services Practice Leader

Appointment Aimed at Supporting Asian Finance Corporation's Ability to Take Full Advantage of the Internet

Hong Kong, October 5, 1999 — China.com Corporation's [NASDAQ: CHINA] web solution business, The Web Connection today announces the appointment of Ms. Leslie Day as Financial Services Director, as the company's latest commitment to enhance the eCommerce capabilities of financial institutions across Asia.

The Web Connection's Financial Services Practice provides comprehensive, e-business solutions to consumer and commercial banks, brokerages and insurance companies including online applications, Internet banking services, e-commerce-enabled websites, business-to-business extranets and corporate Intranets.

"By leveraging the Internet in a way that meets our clients' unique business needs and goals, we are helping some of the world's largest financial firms - such as HSBC, Financial Intelligence Agency, and CGU Insurance - devise winning solutions in the new digital economy," said Ms. Day.

"Asian financial services firms are fast realizing that the Internet has changed the rules of the game," continued Ms. Day. "The Internet has empowered individuals, corporations and institutions by offering them relatively inexpensive and easy access to information and services that were once only available for substantial fees through long-established financial service providers. However, the majority of Asian financial firms are yet to devise long-term strategies to incorporate the Internet in all of their varied businesses."

"The Web Connection also recognizes that the Internet poses many challenges to financial service firms, yet it also offers key opportunities for corporations to reach and interact with clients on a highly personalized level. We will be able to provide distinct advantages to financial service companies that capitalize on new technologies."

"Leslie's appointment is a strong demonstration of our commitment to further reinforce China.com Corporation's pan-Asian integrated business model - our portal network, e-business solutions from the Web Connection and Internet advertising network of 24/7 Media Asia," said Peter Hamilton, Chief Operating Officer of China.com Corporation.

Ms. Day has over a decade experience in the financial services industry, of which four years have been focused on Internet strategy, implementation and marketing. Prior to joining The Web Connection, she was Manager of Strategic Integration Initiatives for PaineWebber Inc. in New York, one of the largest full-service brokerage firms on Wall Street. In this role, she acted as an internal consultant across Paine Webber' s electronic channel development initiatives, working to integrate Internet technologies within traditional marketing and business strategies.

With experience ranging from new product development, strategic marketing and planning, interactive marketing as well as web site strategy and development, Ms. Day will work side-by-side with clients to identify and take advantage of the unique opportunities the Internet presents.

Mr. Hamilton said, "Leslie has a valuable blend of talents in both Internet technology and financial services. We are very excited to have her join our team. Leveraging her expertise in the financial services industry, Leslie will focus on helping companies, including banks, brokerages and insurance firms in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia, to develop Web strategies, sites and services that facilitate business growth."

Ms. Day has a Bachelors Degree in History from Yale University and also holds an MBA Degree in Finance from the Columbia University Business School, New York.
